Congratulations to Sargent Steve Beavers! Steve was Madison's contestant for the national rounds of competition and he picked up $1,000. Steve advanced from the national field into the quarterfinals on November 4, 2006. Steve's showing that day got him into the semifinals on November 11, 2006. Madison's Progressive Talk, The Mic 92.1 is looking for the nation’s next progressive talk show host with the Center For American Progress. Rachel Maddow got her start in radio through a local contest just like this and we’d like to have the next success story come from The Mic’s backyard.
"The Showdown At High Noon Saloon" was held on Saturday October 21st where our panel of judges (Dave Black, Bill Lueders and Sheldon Rampton) cast their votes to narrow the field from eight to four. Now, Mic listeners have had their say with online voting and we're proud to announce our local winner.
